Transparent Noise Barrier installed at Shaheed Dr. Fazle Rabbi Park
Shaheed Dr. Fazle Rabbi Park adjacent to Niketan of Gulshan-1 has been opened for all after the completion of the construction and development project of 24 parks and grounds as committed. Special technology has been used around the modern park of Dhaka North City Corporation. For the installation of this special technology brought from Germany to prevent noise pollution, the sound level inside the park will be fifty percent lower than outside as a result of the transparent noise barrier.
This is what DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said in the opening ceremony of the park on Thursday, 01 February 2024. The mayor said, 'Everyone says there are beautiful parks abroad. We too have assigned the best architects and engineers of the country to design parks including Dr. Fazle Rabi Park, Shaheed Tajuddin Park and all the parks in the city. All these Parks have been inaugurated today. The parks are designed with input from people from all walks of life. We have designed the park by talking to people of all ages including women, men, youth, children. The inclusive design and development of the park made it possible to win the Bloomberg Philanthropies Award'.
The mayor also said, “When the development work of this park started, there was a delay for some time due to the pandemic. Everyone in the society kept telling me why the park was being delayed, opened it as it is. But after the completion of the development work today, everyone understood why it took time. Everything here is nature based. We also held today's opening ceremony openly. Consideration has been given to the welfare of humans as well as to the birds”.
DNCC Mayor also said, 'I would like to request the Gulshan Banani Niketan Baridhara Society to arrange boat movement through the lake which is next to the park, so that people can move by boat. From here you can go to Circle by boat. From there cross the road and again there will be a boat service, from there you can take a boat to Banani Cemetery.
Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam also said, 'Similarly, you can go to Kalachandpur by boat through the lake in Gulshan. Just cross the middle road, after that there will be another boat service. I would say to the societies - do something innovative instead of taking anything ready-made. Work on it, come to us and we will fully cooperate. Those who are in these societies coordinate themselves and start the boats in these canals and lakes in an environmentally friendly way for common people to travel. Environment friendly vehicles will be created. If you will take one step, I, Dhaka North City Corporation will take ten steps for cooperation.'
At this time, DNCC Mayor invited Gulshan and Niketan Society to take responsibility for the management of the Dr. Fazle Rabbi Park.
While speaking as a special guest, the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ministry Mohammad Ali Arafat said, 'A lot can be done if you have vision, taste and effort. Many times, when you want to do something big, many people will try to discourage you and stop you. Thinking and trying something big changes people's perspective. A change of perspective can achieve great things. We have seen various precedents under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the last 15 years. The kind of development that the people of the country could not think of has happened in Bangladesh. If it was said 15 years ago that metro rail will run in Dhaka city, no one would have believed it. If it was said that electricity will reach the homes of 100% of people in Bangladesh, no one would have believed it. We will build the Padma Bridge with our own money; the people of Bangladesh did not believe it either.
He also said, 'In the last 15 years, our perspective has changed. We have become very brave; we can now dream big and realize it. From that place, the issue of transformation from Digital Bangladesh to Smart Bangladesh has come.
Omar Rabbi, son of Martyr Dr. Fazle Rabbi, expressed his feelings on the occasion.
At the end of his speech, DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam and State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat unveiled the inaugural plaque of martyr Dr. Fazle Rabbi Park.
Later, DNCC Mayor along with other guests planted trees, visited the park and inaugurated the newly constructed traffic police box by DNCC on the east side of the park.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dhaka North City Corporation Mir Khairul Alam delivered a welcome speech at the event presided over by Md. Mofizur Rahman, Councilor of Ward No. 19.
President of Gulshan Society Dr. ATM Shamsul Huda, Niketan Society President Dr. MA Bashar, DNCC Secretary Mohammad Masud Alam Siddique, Chief Engineer Brigadier General M. Amirul Islam, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, Shaheed Dr. Fazle Rabi Park Construction Project Director Supervising Engineer Abul Qasem, all department heads of DNCC and councilors of DNCC and other senior officials were present at the event.
